Pause and let this truth settle deep in your spirit: You are a saint in Christ — not by your own perfection, but by His righteousness. As a saint, you are not weak, helpless, or ordinary. You carry the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you. Today, rise up in the authority and power given to every believer who walks in the Spirit.
Many believers live far below their privileges in Christ. We forget that in the New Testament, every born-again child of God is called a “saint” — a holy one, set apart for God’s purposes. The power of the saint is not a fictional superhero strength or magical ability. It is the authentic, supernatural power of the Holy Spirit working through a surrendered life.
This power was demonstrated in the early church, has sustained martyrs, fueled revivals, and is available to every believer today. In this devotion, we will explore the source of this power, its nature, how it is released, common misconceptions, and practical ways to walk in the authority and power of a saint of God.
The word “saint” (Greek: hagios) simply means “holy one” or “set apart one.” Paul addressed ordinary believers in Corinth — despite their many problems — as “saints” (1 Corinthians 1:2). Every person who has been washed by the blood of Jesus, justified by faith, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit is a saint. You do not need to be canonized by any church to qualify.
The power of the saint flows from several powerful truths:
1. Union with Christ — We are crucified, buried, and raised with Him (Romans 6:3-11; Ephesians 2:4-6). His victory is our victory. His authority is delegated to us.
2. The Indwelling Holy Spirit — The same Spirit that empowered Jesus, the apostles, and the early church lives in every believer. “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
3. Authority in the Name of Jesus — At the name of Jesus every knee must bow (Philippians 2:9-11). The disciples returned from ministry amazed that even demons were subject to them in Jesus’ name (Luke 10:17).
4. The Power of the Resurrection — Ephesians 1:19-20 speaks of “the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead.”
5. The Armor of God and the Word of God — We are equipped for spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6). The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, spoken in faith.
Biblical examples of the power of saints abound. Peter and John healed the lame man at the temple gate (Acts 3). Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, performed great wonders and signs while facing martyrdom (Acts 6-7). Paul cast out demons, healed the sick, and shook off a deadly viper (Acts 28). Ordinary men and women turned the world upside down through the power of the Holy Spirit.
This power is manifested in different ways:
- Power over sin and the flesh
- Power to witness boldly and preach the Gospel with signs following
- Power to heal the sick and deliver the oppressed
- Power to endure persecution and trials with joy
- Power to love sacrificially and forgive completely
- Authority in prayer and intercession that moves mountains
It is important to clarify what this power is not. It is not a license for pride, selfish ambition, or showmanship. Jesus warned that many will claim mighty works in His name yet be unknown to Him because of lawlessness (Matthew 7:22-23). The power of the saint flows through humility, obedience, holiness, and love. It is released through faith, prayer, fasting, and total dependence on God.
The early church prayed for boldness, and God answered with fresh fillings of the Holy Spirit and power (Acts 4:29-31). The same God answers today. In times of revival, ordinary saints have seen extraordinary moves of God — blind eyes opened, the dead raised, entire communities transformed.
Even in weakness, God’s power is perfected (2 Corinthians 12:9). Many saints throughout history exercised tremendous power while physically weak or imprisoned because they relied completely on Christ.
Today’s Advice
1. Renew your identity daily as a saint in Christ — declare who you are in Him.
2. Stay filled with the Holy Spirit through worship, prayer, and the Word.
3. Use the authority of Jesus’ name against every work of the enemy.
4. Step out in faith — pray for the sick, share the Gospel, resist temptation boldly.
5. Maintain a lifestyle of holiness and humility so that the power is not quenched.
6. Join with other saints in corporate prayer for greater impact.
7. Study the book of Acts and ask the Holy Spirit to do it again in your generation.
Today’s Food for Thought
How different would your life be if you truly believed and walked in the power available to you as a saint? The enemy wants you to see yourself as powerless, defeated, or ordinary. God calls you chosen, royal, holy, and powerful in Christ (1 Peter 2:9). Will you arise today and exercise the authority given to you? The power is not for entertainment but for advancing the Kingdom of God and setting captives free.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me Your saint and clothing me with power from on high. Forgive me for living in fear, weakness, or defeat. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Let the resurrection power of Jesus Christ flow through my life. Grant me boldness, authority, and humility to walk as a powerful saint for Your glory. Use me to advance Your Kingdom, destroy the works of the devil, and bring many souls to Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
